Sue was a wonderful friend and we shared some marvellous music-making, particularly in the Arden Consort and the Lachrimae Consort.

Sue was a wonderful lady – so full of energy and vitality. Her contribution to the Sinfonia of Birmingham was immense. Not only a very reliable bassoonist but she was an amazing organiser and chairperson – the great success of Sinfonia owes so much to her energy and commitment. Sue was always at her best when the orchestra was on tour – in fact she was a real “tour de force”!
    Rest in peace Sue!

I’m very sad that I will not be able to join you on the 28th due to family commitments. However, I wanted to say just what a kind and caring person Sue was. She was so helpful to me, especially on sinfonia tours and in breaks during rehearsals. She was a tower of strength and worked tirelessly to provide leadership but also refreshments, lifts for people and other small things that are often taken for granted. I personally also miss her and Colin at bpo, again she was tremendously committed and never missed even a rehearsal. Latterly I remember her best at opus 9, with her helpful comments and enthusiasm for the music. Thank you Sue, you will be sorely missed. Jo

Sue had been in an art group in Barnt Green on and off for several years, and we are so very sorry to hear this sad news. One of my personal favourite memories is when Sue took me many years ago to the most amazing bluebell wood that is very near her home. It was like we’d stepped into another world. I think we had. I had never really been in a proper bluebell wood before. It was so beautiful and I’ve made a huge effort to go to a similar wood every year since. It definitely changed my life as I have concentrated on botanical art ever since, so for that alone Sue Peters I thank you from the bottom of my heart. ?

Sue was a true, caring, friend to me, helping me with my migraines through reflexology, giving dietary advice and much personal support during difficult times. A generous, open and hospitable person organising many social events to bring people together. A lover of books, she was a real professional, helping me in the KEHS library. A talented musician and great orchestral manager. Sue enriched my life and the lives of all those around her in so many ways and I am very grateful to have known her. Her beautiful welcoming smiles and positive approach to life stay engraved in my heart always.

We knew Sue through volunteering at Catshill Library and her work within various music groups in Bromsgrove. She always had a smile and was full of energy. A lovely lady who you will not forget.

We are very sad to hear the news of Sue’s passing away. I have known Sue for more than ten years. Sue was such a warm-hearted and optimistic person. My wife and I can still remember vividly our delightful chat and the delicious lamb shank and lemon pie Sue prepared for us during our visit to her home. We are sorry that we could not attend Sue’s funeral because we are overseas on that date. We will always keep her in our hearts.

One thing that made Sue special for me was that when I joined Sinfonia she said that although musicianship was important, the overriding factor was “person-fit”, and I’m sure Sue had a lot to do with that. This is what set Sinfonia apart as an orchestra. Thank you Sue.

It was always a pleasure to bump into Sue on a gig or at some musical event or other. She was always positive and generous-spirited, and will be missed by her many friends.

I first met Sue some 55 years ago when we were both playing in the Midland Youth Orchestra. We played in many concerts and shows in the Midlands. I particularly remember sitting next to Sue as first flute and oboe in the first International Festivals of Youth Orchestras hosted by the Midland Youth Orchestra held in St Moritz. In the late 60’s Sue and I, along with David Yates and Lesley Knowles formed the Arden Consort, an early music group.
Over the years we have had many family associations enjoying holidays and social events.
While I was still in full time employment, I had talked about repairing woodwind instruments. Sue, who was teaching oboe at Solihull school at this time, came to me with a school oboe and said, “You can service this”. I did, and so started a lucrative side line for me.
One of Sue’s strengths was her organisational skills. With the Arden consort she was known as “The bossy one who sorts out the gigs”.
In later years our paths diverged but I have many happy memories and am deeply saddened by her departure. My sincere sympathies are with Colin, James, Rhydian and her brother David in their loss.

I was very saddened firstly to hear some time ago that Sue was ill and the news of her passing is also very sad. I played with Sue in the bassoon section in Birmingham a few times and she also came to Leamington Chamber Orchestra to dep a few times. She was a fantastic bassoonist but also such a friendly and easy going person. It is a pleasure to have known her, albeit quite briefly.
I’ll be thinking of her on Thursday although unfortunately will not be there.
    My condolences to her family.
    Best wishes.
    Chris.

I consider myself lucky to have met Sue through our membership of the Barnt Green Art group where I quickly discovered that we had music as a common interest. Sue immediately asked me to join her eclectic music ensemble consisting of cello, keyboard, flute, recorder, oboe and bassoon – Sue being a player of the last three to a high standard. As a relative novice I was made extremely welcome. We used to play mainly baroque music and the atmosphere was invariably full of laughter and funny stories. We continued to meet regularly- even after Sue became unwell- and played together three weeks before her passing. She showed amazing determination and courage right to the end and was an inspiration to us all. Although we will miss Sue immensely, Mary, Margaret and I will continue to play as she would have wished.
