Christopher Pursell
Arrangements for the funeral of Christopher Pursell
Friday 29th March 2019
1.30pm Brocks Hill Country Park, Oadby
Family and friends are gathering at Brocks Hill Country Park in Oadby to acknowledge Christopher’s death and celebrate his life.
“Brocks Hill is a country park a few minutes from our house where we used to spend a lot of our time, visiting for a few hours a couple of times a week. It was one of Christopher’s favourite places to be.
Guests
We are asking all our guests who knew Christopher to write down a memory they have of Christopher and bring it to Brocks Hill. There will be an opportunity to share your memory during the service if you want to. At the end of the service we will collect all the written memories so that we have a permanent record of them.
Tea and Cake
Tea, coffee and homemade cake will be served at Brocks Hill. To reduce plastic waste, we will be providing cups and mugs. As Christopher enjoyed looking in charity shops, all of the cups and mugs will be bought from charity shops and then given as gifts to our guests. So when you drink your tea, choose your cup carefully because it is yours to take home!”
Please also help us by taking home any extra cake. Tom and Francesca will be going straight from Brocks Hill to the crematorium so it will help if there aren’t a lot of things left for them to clear away – also, they can only eat so much cake!
Parking and finding the Visitor’s Centre.
When you first enter, you will be in the car park and see the Parklands Leisure centre on your right. The country park is at the back of the car park. There is a small car park specifically for Brocks Hill but it is fine to use the Leisure Centre car park too. If you walk straight ahead through the car parks with the Leisure Centre on the right, you will enter the country park and see the visitor’s centre. We will be in the exhibition room on the ground floor.

Please dress comfortably and casually and not all in black.
“Instead of having flowers at the funeral we want to make a longer lasting, living tribute to Christopher that acknowledges his delight in the world around him.
We are creating a memorial garden for Christopher, full of all the flowers and plants he recognised and loved. If you would like to help us with this project, there will be a collection on the day of the funeral.”
There will be a quiet gathering for immediate family only at Scraptoft Natural Burial Ground where the family will plant a tree and a plaque to commemorate Christopher. The natural burial ground aims to create a place which those who wish to remember their loved ones will want to visit. It is a place for quiet reflection in an informal setting amongst trees, wild flowers and wildlife. Eventually it will become a woodland glade, full of nature where all wildlife is encouraged to thrive.
Although there is only room for immediate family to be present at the planting, anyone wishing to visit the natural burial ground to remember Christopher in the future will be able to do so at anytime.
