Jane Wright

Jane WrightArrangements for the funeral of Jane Wright

Sunday 10th September in Lincoln with burial on Monday 11th September at Westall Park Natural Burial Ground near Birmingham

In true Jane style, her funeral will not be the usual kind of service. It will be split between her home and friends in Lincoln, and her heartland, Birmingham.

The service and burial will be quite informal, it will be wholly reflective of Jane and is intended to be a celebration of her life.

The service in Lincoln will take place at St Catherine’s Church Hall on Sunday 10th September from midday, and her burial will take place on Monday 11th September at Westall Park near Birmingham, also from midday.

Friends and family are invited to attend one or both services – as they wish.

During the service there will be an opportunity for anyone to share stories about Jane – so please do come ready with your stories. If you have a story to tell, but would rather it was read out for you please come with it written down!

Below you will find directions and further information about the two days.

Please share this link with anyone who may wish to know about the funeral.

Jane’s family would love to collect memories and messages about her so please feel free to send any messages via the comments area below.

The service will start at midday.

There is a small car park and on street parking in the area around the church hall. The gate on the Common opposite the church should also be open for use of people attending the funeral.

Entrance to the church hall is in the middle of the church car park up the ramp.

There will be some drinks and nibbles served.

Westall Park is one of the UK’s finest natural burial grounds and aims to create a place which those who wish to remember their loved ones will want to visit, not out of a sense of duty, but from the pleasure and peace of mind it can evoke. Westall Park has created an eco-friendly cemetery as a place for quiet reflection in an informal setting amongst trees, wild flowers and wildlife. Eventually it will become a woodland glade, full of nature where all wildlife is encouraged to thrive.

The gathering here will start around midday and will not take the form of a traditional service.

There will be refreshments served.

Jane’s family would prefer people not to wear black, bright colours would be great, but ultimately wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, or simply wear clothes that remind you of your time spent with Jane.

Westall Park is a field which can get muddy, so suitable footwear is advisable. Equally in hot weather the long grass can hide flies and midges so fly spray can be useful, along with hats, sunglasses and sun cream.

If it’s a very hot day you may wish to bring some water with you to drink.

Flowers are welcome, however please remember that plastic and oasis is not allowed at the natural burial ground, so natural sheaths and bunches of flowers are preferable.

Jane was keen that where donations might be made that they are made to Myeloma UK having been treated for this in recent years.

If you would like to make a donation in Jane’s memory, we will be holding a collection on the day of the funeral for Myeloma UK
