If you are attending this funeral and would like to find out more about what we do and what you might experience our ‘About Us’ page is a great place to start.
I first met Joan in 1969, 55 years ago, when we worked together in Outpatients in Newcastle. Those of you who know Joan won’t be surprised to know that, even then, Joan walked to work and home again, about 2 miles each way. It was the start of a lifelong friendship, and I couldn’t have had a better friend. We walked together in England. We walked in Spain, Italy, Ottawa, Costa Rica, Miami, Cape Cod, Vietnam the Rockies the list seems endless. Oh how much we enjoyed our walking, cooking, laughing, our stories our holidays and our winters in Tenerife. It’s been a lifetime of shared experiences from young women, to mothers, to grandmothers. It leaves a gap in my life which all of us who knew Joan will share.
My thoughts are with Hannah, Simon and the grandchildren.
Joan has been an extremely great friend, caring, kind and very thoughtful. There will be a huge gap in my life without her but feel very privileged to have shared some of our life and will treasure the wonderful memories I have of her. Rest in peace my lovely friend
Goodbye my lifelong friend.
Thank you for keeping me in your life.
Thank you for sharing friends and wonderful travel experiences. You knew that to visit Australia had been my dream and together with Rose, you made that happen.
You will live on in my heart through the memories we created. You will be remembered forever.
My old friend Joan. Hard to believe you’re no longer with us. We met at our local mother and toddler group when our sons were babies ( they’re in their mid 40s now!) We quickly bonded through us both being from the North East, both being into cooking (we actually had a 3 way share in a pasta making machine at one time) wonder what happened to it? Also we were both keen gardeners, opening our gardens every year along with Hilary Bartlett, Sue Lonsborough and a few other local gardeners for the NGS. Our 2 families holidayed year after year together to Turkey, Greece and latterly 2 visits to Eurocamp in the Dordogne ( where we discovered half of Moseley seemed to be holidaying too.) Such a talented lady and one that will be missed by so many
Joan was a very special friend. She never spoke ill of anyone, and was always welcoming to whoever crossed her path. We first met on The Ramblers Sunday coach quite a number of years ago, and from here our friendship blossomed. So much so that she invited me to join her in Tenerife each winter, where we spent a wonderful time walking in warm sunshine. We shared many happy times in one another’s company. So thank you Joan for your wonderful friendship. I’m sending you a huge hug to keep you safe and warm on your next journey.
I met Joan in the summer of 1973 in Torquay… that was the start of a very long friendship. Together we made so many memories and supported each other through bereavement and divorce.
We had lots of adventures all over the world, India, Mexico, Spain, Italy France, Cyprus to name a few. We laughed together and cried together, we shared so many memories. I can’t believe that it has finished. We so miss you here in Tenerife. So thank you Joan Taylor, it’s been a privilege to be a part of your life for so long.
I first met Joan nearly 40 years ago through Wendy and their shared love of gardening and the joys of our daughters sharing their teenage years! We shared a family holiday in Turkey and also a memorable one in Goha. She was the most creative of people and over many years created and cared for my garden. I look out on it and always think of Joan – it’s very special as was she.
